Verification Bodies

What is a Verification Body?

A Verification Body is an organisation accredited as fulfilling the requirements of ISO 17020 to perform verifications under the EU ETV Pilot Programme and complying to the requirements specified in the General Verification Protocol document (GVP). Each Verification Body is accredited for at least one subset of the specific technological areas included in the ETV pilot programme: "Water Treatment and Monitoring", "Energy Technologies" or "Materials, Waste and Resources".

The Verification Bodies have the responsibility to review and verify the claims proposed by the technology manufacturers in an independent, objective, impartial and confidential way.

How to become a Verification Body for ETV?

Organisations interested to become Verification Bodies should contact their national accreditation body, whose contact details can be found on the webpage of the European Co-operation for Accreditation. A list of contact persons in the national accreditation bodies of countries participating in the ETV Steering Group may be requested by e-mail to: env-etv@ec.europa.eu. They must then undergo an accreditation procedure in order to prove their technical competence and their quality requirements to perform verifications for the ETV Programme.
